Moneyweb recently hosted our first Boutique Asset Manager event in conjunction with our partners at IRESS One of the speakers who presented on the day was Richard Asherson, fund manager from Westbrooke.
Westbrooke was talking about the opportunity created in the Section12J environment and the special opportunity fund that this manager had created.
Richard joined Westbrooke Alternative Asset Management in 2015. Richard founded Westbrooke’s section 12(J) venture capital product offering and has played an active role in motivating positive legislative changes within the section 12J asset class, working closely with the South African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (“SAVCA”).
Prior to Westbrooke, Richard gained extensive experience in all aspects of Investment Banking with a specific focus on the debt capital markets. He was previously a consultant in the Structured and Acquisition Finance Team at Investec Bank Limited. Transactions completed include term funding, property finance, funding private equity transactions incorporating both leveraged and management buy-outs.
