Westbrooke Alternative Asset Management’s SA private debt business is proud to announce the successful conclusion of more than R200m in private loans over the course of the last month.

1: Acquisition finance to a SA empowerment company
Westbrooke provided a 12-month term bridge facility to an empowerment investment company in order to acquire a strategic shareholding in a JSE listed company. Our swift execution allowed the client to take advantage of an attractive buying opportunity.
We are proud to have concluded the transaction in under a week, leveraging our knowledge of the South African public market, as well as our ability to provide innovative structuring capabilities to clients.
2: Growth capital to a South African speciality finance business
Westbrooke provided a subordinated funding facility to a market leading asset rental and finance group. The group specializes in the provision of rental contracts to small and medium sized corporates and will utilise the funding to further grow their business and unlock further senior debt.
Core to this transaction was the collateral package, which we structured to both support our client’s  growth ambitions, whilst at the same time providing capital protection for our investors.
3: Acquisition finance to a South African investment holding company
Westbrooke provided a short-term bridge loan to an investment holding company, which allowed the business to fund a follow-on equity investment in one of its investee companies. The company holds a number of illiquid investments in the insurance, financial services and real estate industries.
Key to the conclusion of this transaction was our ability to leverage off deep in-house industry knowledge to understand the investment holding company’s true equity value and in turn to provide a market-leading debt package to the client.
